My first few days in Aix weren't as big of a culture shock as i would have imagined, i actually felt comfortable from the beginning. The flight here was an adventure, we all had an idea of who all was all in the CSU IP (California State University International Program) but none of us really knew each other. I spent the flight from LAX to Paris next to Laurie who was officially the first person i met. The flight was torture...it was a 10 hour flight where i sat behind a man who flung his seat back to hit me in the head, and a tv screen that didn't work so i had to watch Spiderman 3 over and over again! I have to say it wasn't the best start to the year. Once we arrived in Paris we then took another hour flight to Marseille a town just about 30 minutes outside of Aix. From Marseille we took a bus to our dorms where we would be staying for the next two weeks and that's where the excitement began! They were horrible! Everyone of us stepped off the bus nervous to be in a new country and to see these dorms pushed all of our jet lagged nerves over the edge! I have to admit i may be making the dorms out to be worse than they were but at the time it was definitely not what i wanted to see. We spent 2 weeks in the dorms and then all 42 of us went out to find flats in town. Aix is an amazingly gorgeous city in Provence it is mostly known for the famous painter Paul Cezanne who painted numerous pictures of Aix, the many fountain that are spread among town and for the lavender fields that are located just outside of town. I love Aix with all of its history and charm I seem to be noticing something new each and everyday.
Here are a few of the main sights in Aix to give you an idea of how gorgeous the city is.
